Please sign up to help make these events a success.For more information and updates, please visit our website at MIHSPTSA.ORGTuesday,10/07: The Mid-Autumn Festival moon cakeThe Mid-Autumn Festival of Moon Festival is one of the most important holidays and celebrations in Chinese culture; its popularity is on par with that of Chinese New Year. The history of the festival dates back over 3,000 years.Similar festivals are celebrated by other cultures in East and Southeast Asia. During the festival, lanterns of all sizes and shapes – symbolizing beacons that light the path toward prosperity and good fortune for the people – are carried and displayed. Mooncakes, a rich pastry typically filled with sweet-bean or lotus-seed paste, are eaten during this festival. Monday, 10/20: Diwali, An Indian FestivalDiwali is the "Festival of Lights," a significant holiday for Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and some Buddhists, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Its significance varies across regions and religions, but most traditions involve the lighting of lamps, decorating homes with colorful rangoli patterns, exchanging gifts and sweets, and spending time with family. This year, we are celebrating Diwali by appreciating our "Gurus" (Teachers & Faculty) on Oct 20th.
