MIHS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Chairs work with other Mercer Island PTA DEI Chairs in the MI PTA Council DEI Committee. Establishing this committee on the Council underscores the commitment to respect and acceptance of every family and student, and also demonstrates our proactive approach to ensuring that all Mercer Island students have an educational experience that leverages the advantages that result from environments that value diversity, and practice equity and inclusion, with the ultimate goal of better preparing them for whatever their pursuits may be after graduation.

As our Mercer Island community evolves and responds to local and national events and issues, the DEI Committee aims to be aware of how they impact our students – both immediately and in preparing for the future. We know that this work is not easy. Changes will not come overnight. And, it will take all of us to be successful. But, we also know that this work is important; and we are committed to it. We invite you to join us in getting involved and supporting this initiative.
