KCLS Life After High School Series

The Life After High School series is sponsored by KCLS and the Friends of the Mercer Island Library. This series of presentations covers various topics for high school students and their parents regarding the college admissions process, college essay writing, conducting college searches and financial aid.  All interested adults and students are welcome to attend.

MIHS Counseling Center Presentations

The MIHS Counseling Center has a series of presentations designed to provide MIHS families with important college choice, application and admission information.

  • Senior Application Process – MIHS Counselors present a PowerPoint for Seniors and Parents regarding the in-house process of gathering all pertinent information for college applications. In-school deadlines will also be noted. Seniors receive this information/presentation in their English classes in September, but it is always beneficial for students and parents to hear the same information.
  • Financing the College Education – Learn about several helpful methods to finance the college education in addition to financial aid. Also, learn about the financial aid application process and about methodologies used in determining financial need.
  • Beginning College Admission Process – This seminar provides basic information and is particularly geared to freshmen, sophomores and juniors and their parents. It will cover the overall college preparation and selection process. Get a roadmap for what your student needs to be doing now.

The MIHS Counseling Department has a variety of resources for students and their parents:
