This week’s schedule is a Thanksgiving week schedule.

MIHS Drama Presents The Outsiders

Based on S.E. Hinton’s novel, The Outsiders brings us the coming-of-age story of Ponyboy Curtis, a young man who finds himself caught in a social divide between the Greasers and the Socs. Through his family, fellow Greasers, and unexpected friendships, Pony courageously faces loss, life, death, and hope for the future. Join the MIHS Drama Department as they present a unique, virtual production of this play. Stream this play from home between December 3 and 12. What’s New This Week!

NEW! Advocacy Update

Advocacy is at the heart of everything we do in PTA. We would like to thank the 36 Mercer Island PTA members (10 from MIHS including 2 MIHS students) who recently attended the WSPTA Legislative Assembly. Their representation gave our children and community a voice. This year we selected the top five issues for our two-year legislative platform as well as other supported issues and a number of long-term resolutions on topics that impact children in Washington state. PTA Reflections Art Contest

Does your student enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? If so, they can join us and have fun unleashing their inner artist with PTA Reflections!  

The theme for the 2020-2021 program year is “I Matter Because…” Students submit their completed works of art in one, or all, of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. 

Deadline for submission: Monday, November 30, 2020

Support Virtual Classroom Enrichment at MIHS

One of the goals this year for MIHS PTSA is to support student learning and classroom enrichment with virtual innovations. Through the PTSA Grant program, we will help teachers bring enrichment ideas to their classroom such as guest speakers and innovative online supplemental learning programs. In addition, MIHS PTSA pays for all after school tutoring which will be virtual until students can return to school. Another benefit of your contribution to MIHS PTSA is parent education through Parent Edge which brings nationally known speakers to our community. We hope you will support MIHS PTSA and contribute to our Annual Giving campaign. Your contributions will make a difference to the students and teachers at MIHS.  All contributions to the Annual Giving Campaign, Friends of the Library and PTSA Membership are tax deductible.  Make your gift today!
