Supporting Our Student Community Through the Counseling Department

The counseling department has reached out for support in collecting some items to help our student community! We know how important it is for a student to be well fed, well rested and comfortable when they come to school in order to feel and do their best. Click here and consider purchasing a few items to be dropped off at the front office for the Counseling Department by next week. PTA Art Reflections Contest Winners and Awards Ceremony

Please join us on Monday March 4th, 5-7pm, in the IMS Commons to celebrate our MIHS artists! The evening will take the form of an art exhibition, and students will receive their respective awards. All friends and family are welcome. See the winners here.

Finals Week Snack Volunteers Needed

The MIHS PTSA wants to recognize our students’ hard work this first semester and provide some much-needed stress relief during Finals Week (delayed schedule). We need volunteers to distribute snacks Tuesday-Thursday 10:30-12:30p. If you would like to help, please click here to sign up.

Mercer Island High School Drama Production of Little Women 

Please join the MIHS Drama department as they perform Little Women, the loved and famous story by American author Lousia May Alcott. The four March daughters—Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy—continue to live in the hearts of readers, causing smiles and tears, triumph and tragedy as they grow up, fall in love and face life. Mercer Island Healthy Youth Forum

Today’s youth experience challenges and stress that are unique to this generation. In an effort to elevate the voices of Mercer Island youth and to learn ways to best support them, the City of Mercer Island Healthy Youth Initiative is hosting the annual MI Healthy Youth Forum on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 7:00PM-9:00PM at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center.

Award-Winning Author Georgia Hunter to Visit MISD on Jan. 9!

On Tuesday, January 9 at 6:30-8:30pm we are thrilled to welcome author Georgia Hunter to the Islander Middle School library to speak to the MISD parent community about her New York Times Bestseller, We Were the Lucky Ones. SSALD Hosting Special Needs Trust Presentation

Save the date: Future Islander Night

Future Islander Night is a chance for parents of current Islander Middle School students and other high school age students and families living on Mercer Island but not enrolled in MISD to visit the high school to learn about classes, curriculum, programs, school groups, and athletics. The event will be held on Thursday, January 25, from 5-8pm.

Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Nominations

We have 29 radio students, several MIHS TV students, as well as members of our KMIH/MIHS TV faculty who are finalists in the national awards. Congratulations to all nominees.

Yearbook Portraits Due Dec. 15th

Custom senior portraits for the yearbook are OPTIONAL. The MIHS yearbook staff will use school ID images if they do not receive a senior portrait submission from you. Instructions are located here. Email mihsportrait@gmail.com with questions.

MISD Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy Workgroup

The Mercer Island School District is forming a workgroup to help guide and develop an initial AI policy and/or procedures for our school district. We are looking for parents to participate in this process. You do not need to be an early adopter or tech expert to participate in the workgroup, we want to ensure that we have diverse viewpoints represented.

Learn How to Combat Stereotypes about the AANHPI Community

Make Us Visble believes that inclusive education does not need policy for it to happen, and we are hosting an online professional development workshop on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 (4-6 p.m.). We are partnering with the Asian American Education Project (AAEdu) and the Wing Luke Museum to put on a workshop centering on AANHPI issues, history, and resources. It will be free and teachers can earn 2 clock hours. You can register here.

Mercer Island High School Fundraisers

ASB Fundraiser
Donations are deposited directly to the district's bank account. There are no additional fundraising costs in addition to the normal credit card transaction fees of approximately 3%. We estimate 97% of your donation will go directly to the activity. You have the security your donation is managed by school district operating under strict financial and technology controls. Money will support the entire student body. Anyone can use them. Click here to donate.
