Rising Senior College App Workshop - June 10 - both lunches
Get an early start to your college apps with a lunch-n-learn session with Ms. Kenyon and Mr. Johnston. Brainstorm ideas for essays, sign up for your Common App account, and explore the mysteries of Naviance. Be sure to bring your lunch and laptops for this.
Save the date: Juneteenth Community Celebration
The MIHS Black Student Union is hosting a Juneteenth Celebration at Mercerdale Park from 12:00 - 4:00 pm. Festivities include live music, black-owned food trucks, face paintings, balloon artists, and more
Writing for College Summer Workshop
MIHS teachers Curtis Johnston and David Willecke are offering the 16th annual Writing for College workshops beginning June 25. This year we are offering workshops over two weeks, from June 25 to July 3, with online editing and application support available through August 11. All workshops will be held in person at MIHS. Last Day to Order 2024 Grad Grams is Tuesday, May 28th
For the past 30 years, family, friends, businesses, and community organizations have sent Grad Grams to Mercer Island students to acknowledge their graduation. Beginning in 2024 we will be focusing this program exclusively on 8th and 12th grade graduates. Order your Grad Gram today! Last day to order is Tuesday, May 28th.
Empty Bowls!
Join us for an evening of student art, education, and breaking bread to support Mary’s Place! .This organization helps families experiencing homelessness get the support they need and so much more! The event will take place on May 31st, 6:00- 8:00 pm at MIHS Commons. There will be soup, bread, and desserts provided by our ceramic classes! Click here to register.

MIHS Island Books Fundraiser
Continuing their long-standing and generous commitment to Mercer Island School District, Island Books will contribute 15% of all in person or phone sales, including toys, housewares and gift card sales, to Mercer Island High School’s PTSA on Tuesday, May 21st from 9:00am-6:00pm in support of our students, teachers, and school activities. Join us for the MIHS Orchestra End-of-Year concert at Benaroya's Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall on May 21st at 7pm. The final concert of the season is a celebration of our year together, sending off our beloved seniors while looking forward to the bright future ahead of our ensembles. Performances will highlight our individual and collaborative achievements, featuring repertoire chosen by students, our final senior solo, and a fond 'farewell' to the audience from our combined ensembles. MIHS Drama 1 Spring Production
"The course of true love never did run smooth"... Hermia loves Lysander, Demetrius loves Hermia, Helena loves Demetrius, Theseus and Hippolyta are almost newlyweds and the marriage of the immortal queen and king of Fairyland is further complicated when one of them falls for an amateur actor-turned-ass. Join Drama 1 as they present Shakespeare's famous light-hearted, magical comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream on Thursday, May 16th at 7pm in the PAC. Admission is free.

Rising Senior Case Study and College Fair on April 30th, 5:00 pm @MIHS
Rising MIHS seniors (Class of 2025) and their parents are invited to attend a simulated college admissions evening, also known as a Case Study. Our seasoned college admissions officers will review three sample applications, then engage in a panel discussion in front of the live audience. Case Studies explore the qualities and values sought after by colleges in their annual selection process.
Community Service Awards Submission Due April 30
The MIHS Community Service Awards Program is organized by the MIHS Counseling Center in partnership with the MIHS PTSA. This is an award that any Senior or Junior may apply for and it’s based on community service hours performed throughout the student’s high school career beginning the first day of 9th grade. Nominate Outstanding People for MIHS PTSA Awards!
It’s that time of year! It’s Awards Season - a time to recognize those in our community who are all-in for MIHS students!
Each year, the PTSA recognizes outstanding community members for their service in support of our students. We are currently seeking nominations for the several volunteer awards, an educator award, a community business or organization partner award, and a lifetime member award. Click here to nominate and for a list of past recipients. Nomination deadline is 5pm on Monday, April 22, 2024.
Award winners will be recognized on Thursday, May 9, 2024, 9:30 am at the PTSA General Membership Meeting being held in the MIHS Library Presentation Room. We look forward to your nominations and the opportunity to recognize those who have made a difference for MIHS students!

MIHS Drama Presents: Servant of Two Masters
Please join MIHS’ Drama Department as they present their spring play, Servant of Two Masters, by Carlo Goldoni and translated by Edward J. Dent. A timeless comedy about love, passion and mistaken identity, Servant of Two Masterstells the story of Truffaldino, who takes on two masters in order to get a good meal. Chaos, confusion and hilarity ensue. Pulling from the Italian tradition of commedia dell’arte, this show uses improvisation and mask work to tell its colorful and fun tale. Come join the laughter. Mercer Island Youth and Family Services and the MI Healthy Youth Initiative are excited to share Parenting Mercer Island with MI parents and caregivers. The ParentingMercerIsland.org tool is intentional in promoting the healthy mental, emotional, and behavioral development of Mercer Island’s children and youth by actively growing their social and emotional skills.
